Puget Sound Quality Painting is a small, family-run business based in Tacoma. We're not a franchise, not a crew of strangers — just Ricardo and his brother showing up to do good work for good people across Pierce County.
PSQP started the way a lot of small businesses do — not from a business plan, but from a need. I started painting to help my dad with jobs, planning to handle the back end while he ran the work. But things got complicated fast. Before I knew it, I was learning about licensing, insurance, contracts, and customer relationships — all at once, on the fly.
That pressure forced me to grow. I picked up a brush and started doing the work myself. For a few years I ran the business on the side, fitting jobs around other work. This year is my first year going all in — no part-time job, no backup plan. Just PSQP.
"It's not really just painting. It's connecting with the homeowner. This isn't a one-and-done deal — it's an ongoing relationship."
— Ricardo, OwnerI've been painting for about five years total, and what I've learned is that the job people think they're hiring you for is only half of it. The other half is communication, showing up when you say you will, leaving the place cleaner than you found it, and treating someone's home like it matters — because it does.
I've worked with amazing homeowners. People who trusted me with their space and made me better at what I do. I've also learned some lessons the hard way. Both made me the painter I am today.
My favorite jobs? The simple ones, honestly. A bedroom repaint. Two coats, clean lines, done right. There's something satisfying about walking into a room that feels brand new just because the color changed. The homeowner's reaction when they see it — that's the part I'm in it for.
We're a small team by design. It's me and my brother on jobs — no rotating crews, no strangers in your house. When you book PSQP, you know who's showing up.
The systems and standards we hold ourselves to on every single job.
When you book PSQP, this is who you get. No surprises, no rotating crews.
